Original aggregate data measured from real usage, published at pitchhighway.com/research and free to cite under CC BY 4.0 (attribution + link). Snapshot dated 2026-08-05, refreshed quarterly. Three hooks, as you might quote them:
- The median measured voice spans 23 semitones (D3–C#5) — just under two octaves, across 632 singers.
- A typical song nearly fills a typical voice: the median vocal line spans 20 semitones, and 26% of measured songs exceed two octaves.
- Singers improve fast on the song they practice: a median +39% score gain between first and best attempt, with the best usually landing by attempt 2.
